Developing case studies, writing web copy, drafting award nominations, editing a ‘how to’ business book, proofing grant applications, beta testing online training material, and copyediting middle-grade novels, short stories and poetry.
The list of projects I’ve worked on is as fascinating as it is broad. While some of my projects are ghost-written or require discretion, here’s a few that I can share.

Case study: Working with an indie author
The client: Entrepreneur Zoi Kokoti came to me with the manuscript for her ‘how to start a business’ book. As a first-time, independent author, she was nervous about sharing her work with someone, but knew that she needed some editorial expertise to take her manuscript further.
How I helped: I worked with Zoi to restructure the flow of the text and identified opportunities to both tighten up the narrative and to plug some information gaps. I also worked to fix spelling, punctuation and grammar errors, while maintaining Zoi’s authorial voice.
The experience: Being trusted with a new author’s manuscript is always a privilege and this project was no exception. Zoi’s approach to the feedback provided made this a very satisfying author–editor collaboration.

Case study: Web copy for a business client
The client: The brief from ASC Training & Development was to overhaul the copy across their entire website to make it engaging, persuasive and jargon-free, while also representing the company’s values and philosophy.
How I helped: With the layout and design taken care of by others, I was able to focus on reviewing, rewriting and developing copy that reflected the company’s approach to learning in a way that was authentically them. Understanding the company’s voice was key to doing this well, which meant getting to know the team and their work through one-on-one discussions, reviewing key documents, and sitting in on one of their training programs. After the website was at final draft stage, I also did a final copyedit/proof.
The experience: Working with ASC T&D was a genuine pleasure. The team’s commitment to learning and their learners was evident throughout the process, with the draft copy reviewed and refined in a productive and collaborative way. This meant the end result not only met the brief, but it was also owned by the team.
